About Us

Our History

We are a cheese company specialized in the processing and distribution of Mediterranean cheeses. We have experienced significant growth in the past 35 years and we keep expanding further thanks to the popularity of our products which have led to success for many years.

 

Our goal and our promise are to always offer high quality cheeses at the best price. We are passionate about cheeses and our passion is reflected in the creation and sale of the best possible product on the market. At Les Aliments Karnie, we believe the cheese manufacturing process is an art. It is not just about tasting the final product. During this process, we need to obtain and achieve the right texture, color, shape, and taste. Consequently, our experience and love for our cheeses have always pushed us to respect our promise and to never lose sight of our goal.

Our cheeses can be found in most retailers, distributors, restaurateurs and food services, as well as many bakers across Canada. The majority of our cheeses are unripened, and are firm or soft.

 

The founder of the company, Mr. Krikor Panossian, is from Anjar, Lebanon. Master cheesemaker, specialist of the aging process, and a graduate of over 40 years, he opens his first cheese plant in his home town. He moves to Canada in 1976, where he opens the first oriental cheese plant in Canada. In 2013, he decides to pass the torch and transfers the company to a young entrepreneur, Mr. Dani Cheaib. He worked as an apprentice and was mentored by Mr. Panossian before his departure in order to ensure the best possible transition. During this time, he learned everything he needed to know about this industry and brought forth his own suggestions and innovative ideas. Hardworking, innovative and devoted, his vision for the company was to innovate and create new ways of preparing cheeses while keeping the roots of the company embedded to the culture and tradition behind it.
